There are reports of increasing fears amongst residents in the Sokoban Newsite in Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly of the Ashanti Region.
The worrying development, according to residents is as a result of rampant robbery attacks which has hit some communities within the metropolis recently.
According to reports, these robberies were on the rise in Sokoban Newsite, the last community within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly which share a direct boundary with Atwima Kwanwoma district.
Considering the situation as dizzying and unbearable, the residents complained they were living and carrying out their daily activities in total fear as security in the area was nothing to write home about.
Motorbikes, Mobile phones, money, and many others including home appliances are the common materials many residents complained they are being robbed with.
The residents attributed these rampant robberies to the current situation of insecurity in the area.
There has not been a single police officer in the police Post which was built during the era of former Ashanti Regional police Commander DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye.
According to the Assembly member in the area, Hon Kwadwo Boateng, the situation is being managed by the neighborhood watchdog committee but because of the lack of security equipment and motivational fees, the situation keep on increasing.
Investigations revealed that, the police patrol team for the past three years has stopped their night patrol in the area because of inadequate logistics to carry out operations.
