Daniel Omane, popularly known as “Anelka,” a mobile phone dealer in Koforidua sustained severe burns to most parts of his body on November 29, 2024, after Vera Asare allegedly poured acid in a gallon on him while he slept in his room.
He was initially taken to Adweso clinic before being moved to the Eastern Regional Hospital and subsequently transferred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for specialized treatment.
After months of medical care, he succumbed to his injuries on July 15, 2025.
Vera Asare was initially remanded into custody, but was later granted bail to care for their child. Following Daniel’s death, she was re-arrested and charged with manslaughter.
